20 New Year’s Resolutions Every Parkite Should Make in 2020

We're all aware of the usual New Year's Resolutions like eating better or exercising more, but why not add a few local Park City goals to your 2020 New Year's list to experience something unique to our region? Don't worry. We're making 2020 easier by putting together a list of 20 productive activities to check out so you can experience our resort town like never before!

1. Try a New Park City Restaurant

Want to experience a new restaurant in 2020? Heath and Hill opened its doors in 2019 with accolades from food critics and locals alike. Do you like sushi? Blind Dog–a PC favorite for over 20 years–recently updated its menu and has a new interior as well. With new establishments popping up all over Park City, finding a new spot is a piece of cake by simply browsing our website.

2. Drink an Award-Winning Craft Beer

If you want to experience Park City beer culture, knock back a few pints at Wasatch Brew Pub. This local watering-hole has been slinging award-winning brews since 1986. Fun Fact: Wasatch was the first post-prohibition brewery in Park City.

3. Tour the High West Distillery

Experience the time-honored tradition of craft distilling with a visit to the High West Distillery. You can start by visiting the High West Saloon in Park City proper for an organic snack, then take advantage of their complimentary facility tours to learn more about their humble roots at their picturesque production facility in Wanship. Pro Tip: Make a reservation to one of their Thursday evening Supper Clubs. You won’t regret it. This recommendation is only suitable for those 21 and over.

4. Après Ski with Friends

Park City is known for our après ski culture, so every local and visitor should participate in an after ski party at least once. So, if you haven't enjoyed a post-mountain beer or meal with your friends, make 2020 the year you check out one of many Park City's top ski-après hot spots with your besties.

5. Dine at a Restaurant with a View

Combine Park City's serene landscape and our stellar cuisine with a visit to one of several scenic restaurants overlooking our incredible settings. No matter the season, our city offers spectacular views alongside epicurean delights from charming mountain scenes to vibrant downtown streets that encapsulates the beauty of our resort town.

6. Play a Round of Golf at a World-Class Course

Park City isn't just a skiing mecca. We also have some of the most renowned golf courses in the country, which are easily accessible and enjoyable at most skill levels. Grab your clubs and hit the green in 2020 and plan to relish in a high-elevation game of golf at one of our 15 golf courses. Need a frosty beer after the 18th hole? Stop off for a drink at Legends Bar and Grill.

7. Visit Utah's Olympic Park

Built for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, the Utah Olympic Park remains a main Park City attraction for visitors and locals alike. Just a quick trip from downtown, this historic park offers thrilling bobsled rides in the summer and tubing adventures down a Nordic Jump. For a less-adrenaline pumping experience, leisurely wander around the grounds and enjoy the sights or walk through the museum to learn more about our area’s Olympic history.

8. Catch an Outdoor Concert

Running early summer to late fall, Deer Valley hosts its annual summer concert series at the spectacular Deer Valley Resort's Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. Last year included performances from Ziggy Marley, Ben Harper, and Thievery Corporation. Keep an eye out for their 2020 line up and prepare to get your dance on after the New Year!

11. Get Creative at the Kimball Art Center

Make art a family priority in 2020 by taking a creative trip to the Kimball Art Center. Kiddos can enroll in a wide range of art classes and camps while adults take advantage of their studio space for your own projects. For a perfect follow up to your art-filled day, visit Chimayo and indulge in their eclectic and innovative Southwestern cuisine after a creative day out.

12. Eat at a Restaurant on Historic Main Street

Main Street is the heartbeat of Park City. This historic downtown district is home to countless galleries, shops, and (of course) world-class restaurants. Treat yourself to globally inspired cuisine from Bridge Café and Grill, Bangkok Thai on Main, or other eateries on Main Street after the New Year. No matter your preference, Main Street restaurants promise something for everyone.

13. Patio Dine in Park City

We love the outdoors in Park City. We also love good eats. So, why not combine the two and dine al fresco? Gather up your friends and family—even Fido—and spend a calendar day in 2020 noshing on some delicious PC bites at a Park City restaurant with a breathtaking patio!

14. Take a Ski Lesson from a Professional

If you want to learn how to ski like a local in 2020, try taking a class from a professional ski instructor. Park City Mountain offers lessons at every age and any skill level. You can also choose to work with a private ski instructor for one-on-one training or join a group lesson. For some healthy grab-and-go breakfast options before your exercises, check out Element Kitchen and Bakery prior to heading to the mountain.

15. Run The Round Valley Rambler

Health is always at the top of everyone's New Year's resolution list, so why not make exercise fun by participating in The Round Valley Rambler? You'll run alongside hundreds of Parkites and loop through the valley’s trail system by choosing either the 7K or half marathon tracks. Early bird registration starts at $80, but you can also register on race day for $115. The Round Valley Rambler takes place on June 20th at 8:00 am.

16. Hike the Armstrong Trail

The Armstrong Trail is a moderate hike offering travelers aspen lined pathways and glimpses of native wildflowers. It’s easily accessible to most mountain bikers and hikers at any skill level and includes an uphill progression that will lead you to some of Park City’s best views. If you are looking for a snack before or after your outdoor adventure, visit the Silver Star Café, which is near the Armstrong trailhead.

17. Ski with the Park City Powder Cats

Join the Park City Powder Cats to have the ultimate Park City skiing experience! Meet your guides in the morning, jump on a snowcat, and spend the day skiing through 43,000 acres of pristine and untouched powder while making your favorite memories of 2020 in the Uinta Mountains.

18. Float Above Park City's Skyline in a Hot Air Balloon

Book a sunrise ride with Park City Balloon Adventures or Skywalker Balloon Company and soar over our skyline and gaze down at the mountain terrain below. After you've landed, celebrate your aerial adventure with prime steak and a glass of vino from Grub Steak Restaurant.
