How to Have Fun in Park City During the Summer of 2020

Summer might look a little different this year, but that doesn't mean the activities we enjoy doing on a sunny day have to stop. As Park City reopens, we can still experience what makes our town so great, whether that's grabbing a beer on a patio, reconnecting with nature while on a hike, or golfing at one of our world-class resorts. What's more? This summer, our community adjusts the fun by bringing car-free Sundays to Historic Main Street and offering legendary eats in a unique garden setting.

Are you visiting over the summer and curious what locals are doing as Park City reopens? Here are some essential tips on how to make the most out of summer while you're here!

1. Car-Free Sundays on Main Street

From now until September 6th, 2020, Historic Main Street is going carless! This means Parkites and visitors alike can spend a leisurely summer day outdoors, safely strolling through the downtown corridor while enjoying the sights and sounds of Old Town. Yes, many of your favorite shops and galleries have reopened, making it easier for you to find the perfect Park City souvenir or the new designer threads you're after! If you're looking for a great bite to eat, make Carless Sundays your day to find your new favorite bar or restaurant in Park City.

2. Experiencing a World-Class Park City Meal

It's not a secret that Park City is a foodie destination, whether you're looking for a charming bistro, an alpine dining setting, or something else entirely. Even though our local hotspots were on a brief hiatus to help flatten the curve, many have bounced back and reopened their dining rooms ahead of the summer by implementing safe social distancing guidelines. Need a recommendation? While we are on the subject of hotspots, Firewood on Main takes woodfired cuisine to a whole new level–every dish is prepared over an open flame! Riverhorse on Main, a recipient of the DiRoNA Award and one of Park City's oldest and most beloved establishments, is back in business and is serving up their unique eats that honor local ingredients. With so many dining rooms reopen in Park City, it's easy to experience some of Park City's top-notch eateries over the summer.

3. Enjoy Patio Dining and Outdoor Cocktails

Dining al fresco is one of our favorite ways to celebrate the summer in Park City. As the top patios reopen, Parkites are going outside to enjoy local eats and craft cocktails while soaking up some much-needed sunshine. For an intimate dining experience along Main Street, make a reservation at Purple Sage. For mountainside dining, check out the stunning Stein Eriksen Lodge. Our outdoor dining game is strong, so you are sure to find plenty of restaurants offering patios with diverse cuisine to match any of your moods. Want to make things easier? We recommend calling ahead and making a reservation to secure your spot.

4. Golfing on Park City Greens

Get on the green this summer and experience a high-elevation game of golf at one of the many world-class courses in the area. Pick from a variety of diverse golf links like the spectacular Canyons Golf or the Jack Nicklaus approved Red Ledges, which offers two courses designed by the acclaimed master golfer himself. If you've never teed-up in the Park City area before, you are in for a one-of-a-kind experience. Not only are the landscapes breathtaking, but our high elevation makes your golf ball fly even farther to help you achieve your goal of making a hole-in-one!

5. Experiencing the Wasatch Mountains

If Main Street is the heart of Park City, then the dynamic Wasatch Mountain Range is our backbone. Running over 160 miles from the Idaho-Utah border down to central Utah, the Wasatch Mountains are an outdoor adventurer's dream come true. The rugged peaks boast some prime mountain biking trails, panoramic hiking opportunities, and camping galore with over 300 public campgrounds that are easily accessible from town. For visitors looking to explore the natural beauty of Park City over the summer, the Wasatch Mountain Range is the perfect place to have a quick day trip in the wilderness or an extended weekend camping at a site that overlooks our stunning scenery.

This four-course dining extravaganza features notable cuisine from Versante Hearth & Bar. Expect handmade pasta, fresh local produce, and garden party vibes. Spots are expected to fill up quickly, so secure your reservation ASAP. Pro-tip: bring a comfy chair or a blanket, and Versante in the Garden will take care of the rest.
